Constance Kuswani has proven to be a rising star in the local table tennis scene, following her recent victory at the independence tournament last month.
Kuswani has recently made headlines by winning the highly anticipated Independence tournament on September 30. In an exclusive interview, Kuswani shared her thoughts and aspirations following her stunning victory.
With a mix of emotions, Kuswani expressed her pride in her recent achievement and her determination to reach the top spot in the rankings. “I have been working tirelessly because I want to see myself ranked No 1 in the near future, even tomorrow,” she said. The victory in the Independence tournament has further convinced her that this goal is within reach, providing her with a significant motivation to keep pushing forward.
Reflecting on her previous seasons, Kuswani acknowledged that she often played matches without a proper plan. However, she has since changed her approach, focusing on developing mental strength and match tactics. “I now go into each match with plan A, B, and C, depending on the opponent’s play style,” she explained. This strategic shift has had a profound impact on her game, leading to improved results.
Kuswani also credits her international exposure for her growth as a player. Participating in tournaments abroad has allowed her to observe and learn from high-ranked international players, incorporating their positive aspects into her own game. Additionally, she has prioritized physical training to ensure she is in top form for matches.
Looking ahead, Kuswani has set her sights on winning the remaining tournaments of the season. She has intensified her training regimen and recognizes the increased competition she now faces. “Other ladies are greatly inspired by my win and are now motivated to work hard,” she acknowledged. Nevertheless, Kuswani remains confident in her abilities and believes that winning is entirely possible.
Beyond local tournaments, Kuswani dreams of representing her country on an international stage. She aspires to compete in prestigious events such as the Africa Senior Championships, All Africa Games, World Championships, and Commonwealth Games. However, financial constraints have hindered her participation in the past, dampening her and her fellow players’ spirits. Kuswani hopes that funding will become available to support their dreams and revive their enthusiasm for the sport.
In addition to her sporting aspirations, Kuswani has personal goals she wishes to achieve. She aims to become the top-ranked player in the country and seeks a personal sponsor to collaborate with in promoting their brand. Kuswani, who holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Health Information Management, is currently job hunting and envisions combining her employment with her passion for table tennis. “For an organization to have me as an employee and brand ambassador at once will be a dream come true!” she exclaimed.
Furthermore, Kuswani aspires to establish her own table tennis sports shop and
academy. With her level 1 coaching expertise, she hopes to pass on her knowledge and skills to aspiring players, nurturing the next generation of table tennis talents. Constance Kuswani’s recent victory in the Independence tournament has not only solidified her position
