ELECTRIFYING YAMAs!
The 8th Yarona FM Music Awards (YAMAs) will for the first time since 2019, feature a live, in-person audience, to engage all their fans under the famous theme, “Drip Till Infinity,” this weekend.
The event will be broadcast on Ytv, channel 291 on DStv, and will also be live-streamed. The most respected choir in the country, KTM choir has also been scheduled to perform at these long awaited awards.
YAMAs organizers told Vibe that fans should simply get ready for glitz, glam and a star-studded line up. Fans have also been promised massive fun at the prestigious and sought-after music accolades in the country.
General Manager at Yarona FM, Owen Rampha, also promised a show out of this world for this weekend with their dynamic duo of DJ Sway and Pearl Thusi who would be the MCs of the night. “Year after year, we make it a point to handpick high-flying personalities to grace our stage, and this year is no exception. DJ Sway’s remarkable contributions in radio, as a DJ, and in event hosting has earned him this well-deserved opportunity.
Pearl Thusi, beloved by Batswana, is noted for her role as Patricia Kopong in the BBC/HBO comedydrama series, ‘The No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency.’ We have full confidence that the experience this dynamic duo have amassed in hosting events of this magnitude, will see them deliver a spectacular and memorable performance on awards night,” he said.
He is confident about an electrifying energy on stage, and guaranteed that everyone should anticipate to be treated to an exceptional performance that will make them yearn for more.
DJ Sway co-hosted the 8th YAMAs launch event and his energetic performance was enough to portray a scene for the actual event. Rampha reiteraited that they are excited to showcase the best of Botswana talent throughout the entire evening, especially with their bubbly energetic hosts of the show.
The South African model and actress Pearl Thusi,actually boasts a track record of hosting various award shows, television programmes on MTV Base, starring in the first African Netflix series (Queen Sono), and gracing international red carpets, and this alone leaves a lot anticipating for more according to Rampha.
For the multiple YAMAs categories to be showcased, each category will have the winner receiving a prestigious award and cash prize, courtesy of sponsors being; the Okavango Diamond Company (ODC), in collaboration with St. Louis Lager, and amplified by Mascom Wireless, Taurus and Collections.
Lineup of the day includes; exceptional live onstage performances by Priscilla K, Chef Gustos, Han C, Courtney, Rockafella, KX Legit, and the versatile Duo of Khoisan. KTM Choir, is also expected to give a share of their ever elegant performance as they would be honoring a special invitation, on the 8th YAMAs stage.
