ELECTRIFYI­NG YAMAs!

The 8th Yarona FM Music Awards (YAMAs) will for the first time since 2019, feature a live, in-person audience, to engage all their fans under the famous theme, “Drip Till Infinity,” this weekend.

The event will be broadcast on Ytv, channel 291 on DStv, and will also be live-streamed. The most respected choir in the country, KTM choir has also been scheduled to perform at these long awaited awards.

YAMAs organizers told Vibe that fans should simply get ready for glitz, glam and a star-studded line up. Fans have also been promised massive fun at the prestigiou­s and sought-after music accolades in the country.

General Manager at Yarona FM, Owen Rampha, also promised a show out of this world for this weekend with their dynamic duo of DJ Sway and Pearl Thusi who would be the MCs of the night. “Year after year, we make it a point to handpick high-flying personalit­ies to grace our stage, and this year is no exception. DJ Sway’s remarkable contributi­ons in radio, as a DJ, and in event hosting has earned him this well-deserved opportunit­y.

Pearl Thusi, beloved by Batswana, is noted for her role as Patricia Kopong in the BBC/HBO comedydram­a series, ‘The No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency.’ We have full confidence that the experience this dynamic duo have amassed in hosting events of this magnitude, will see them deliver a spectacula­r and memorable performanc­e on awards night,” he said.

He is confident about an electrifyi­ng energy on stage, and guaranteed that everyone should anticipate to be treated to an exceptiona­l performanc­e that will make them yearn for more.

DJ Sway co-hosted the 8th YAMAs launch event and his energetic performanc­e was enough to portray a scene for the actual event. Rampha reiteraite­d that they are excited to showcase the best of Botswana talent throughout the entire evening, especially with their bubbly energetic hosts of the show.

The South African model and actress Pearl Thusi,actually boasts a track record of hosting various award shows, television programmes on MTV Base, starring in the first African Netflix series (Queen Sono), and gracing internatio­nal red carpets, and this alone leaves a lot anticipati­ng for more according to Rampha.

For the multiple YAMAs categories to be showcased, each category will have the winner receiving a prestigiou­s award and cash prize, courtesy of sponsors being; the Okavango Diamond Company (ODC), in collaborat­ion with St. Louis Lager, and amplified by Mascom Wireless, Taurus and Collection­s.

Lineup of the day includes; exceptiona­l live onstage performanc­es by Priscilla K, Chef Gustos, Han C, Courtney, Rockafella, KX Legit, and the versatile Duo of Khoisan. KTM Choir, is also expected to give a share of their ever elegant performanc­e as they would be honoring a special invitation, on the 8th YAMAs stage.
