‘It never rains, but pours’

-

The author of ‘It never rains, but it pours’, Nnyaladzi Malaki Monyamane is set to officially launch this book, end of this month.

This book depicts a correlation between traditional beliefs and Christianity, in orchestrating people’s daily lives. It is a fictional novel set in Botswana that teaches people to relate and learn how religion and traditional beliefs play a key role in life.

The author of this book grew up in the village of Tutume and has a wealth of experience when it comes to traditional beliefs. He started writing this book in 2001, and is excited that it finally gets to be on the shelves this year. The author holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Social Sciences (Statistics and Economics) from the University of Botswana, Post Graduate Diploma in French Language from Amity University. He was awarded a Certificate in Creative Writing organised by the University of Botswana Writers Workshops in 2008. This he said gives him the confidence to share his creativity of writing through publishing books. Therefore releasing this book is only the beginning of his writing career as he promised to bring more insightful books in the future.

The story line of this book is based on how childhood friends; Ishmael and Botho battle through a love triangle that lands Ishmael in a series of unfortunate events. A resilient Ishmael fights the unforeseen as he is set up with a murder case and arrested. He is thrown into the Francistown Stormy Prison, with his fiancée abandoning him alongside the lawyer he trusted.

Ishmael discovers that mercy is hard to find when needed. His only hope rests on an intervention by a stranger lawyer, who comes to his aid on a pro bono basis.

Although this book is fictional, it carries a significant message that a lot can learn from. Monyamane is of the view that the art of writing goes beyond just writing but influential in people’s lives.

Asked why he took so long to publish this book, he reiterated that, just like music, writing also takes a particular skill and he did not want to publish something that he was not satisfied with. He told this publication that he took his time to gather information and ensure that he is finally confident with what he has to offer. He believes much in rich content, which is why he solely took his time to put together this book.

He is currently preparing for the launch of the book and reiterated that this is just one best collection for the book worms as the book targets both the young and the old. The book is currently available for pre order.
