MWAANGA NOT CHICO’S REPLACEMENT

-

He advised them to make a plan to fill the gap in his absence, and recommended a few experienced coaches. Mwaanga’s name was among the suggested candidates, and the team believes he is the right person to lead them in Nare’s absence. Mmualefe stated that the team is confident that Mwaanga will be able to maintain the team’s level of performance and help them to achieve their goals.

“We did not appoint Mwaanga to replace Nare, but he is still completing his coaching course and will not be available until the end of the year. Nothing has changed, and we cannot leave the team without a proper coach for such a long time. Nare is aware of these changes and has given his approval,” he said

“When we looked at our upcoming fixtures, we felt it was important to have an experienced coach. We still have to play Mochudi Centre Chiefs and Jwaneng Young Stars, so it was our responsibility to make sure we didn’t let the team down while Nare is away,” Mmualefe added.

He said that Nare had left a program to be followed by the interim coach, and the team’s lineup and squad has remained unchanged. He stated that the club has a oneseason contract with Nare that may be extended if both parties are happy with the working relationship. Mmualefe emphasized that the club has a good relationship with Nare and that they are hopeful that he will continue to be a part of the team in the future.

“When coach Nare returns, coach Mwaanga will hand over the program and give him a full report of how things have been going. In the meantime, we wish Nare the best of luck with his studies and we promise to do our best to get good results so that he can focus on his studies without any worries,” he mentioned.

In an interview after the Notwane match, Mwaanga said that he had come to Gunners knowing that he would be the assistant coach while Nare was away, and that he did not come to replace him. “So far, it’s not so bad because Gunners has good players, and all they need is some guidance.

“I am happy with the performance of the team and I am confident that we will continue to improve as we move forward,” he noted. Mwaanga has a long history of coaching experience, having worked with teams such as Township Rollers and Gilport Lions. He has also served as an assistant coach for the under-20 and under-23 national teams.
