Prophet claims to possess supernatural powers to heal Botswana

- BY IRENE SHONE

“I can make it rain,” Prophet Tyson Moyangwa, better known as Prophet Judah Moengele, proclaims confidently.

“I have got the supernatural powers to direct the rain to fall,” he says, adding that “it is not only me who can do that,” and that a lot of healers around are blessed with that power.

“But we cannot do that as long as the government does not acknowledge our presence and allow us to save our country,” he said.

For this reason, Prophet Judah Moengele is appealing to the Government of Botswana to return to the crossroads and acknowledge ‘sedimo’ (ancestral worship) in order to cure problems of droughts and plagues that torment this nation. Prophet Moengele who leads a church branch in Molepolole called Rama Christian Church in Zion laments that Botswana is in a devastating state in different ways, because no one wants to take accountability of doing things the right way. He explained that, “prophecy is used to utter deep things of God and to see vision and background to a solution.”

He noted that Botswana is currently weighed down by challenges including breaking up of romantic relationships leading to devastation and ‘passion killings,’ alarming rate of unemployment, missing people and devastating effects of climate change that need to be attended. Prophet Judah Moengele told

The Midweek Sun that the leadership of the country needs to do something before things get worse. He highlighted that as the spirits reveal to him, there are many pied crows (magakabe) eggs in many buildings and towers and until they are removed, the country would never see good rains. “As traditional healers and spiritualists, it is our duty to deal with all these and so it is important for the government to release ‘sedimo’ to do what is right,” he said. He noted that it is needed to remove spirits of people who died by hanging themselves and the chiefs should also release the regiments to pray for rain.

“Ever since some churches were allowed into the country, a lot has changed and this could only be resolved by allowing sedimo to stabilise everything,” he said. He emphasised that supernatural powers are real and a lot has been going well in the past because the elders understood well that sedimo is part of Botswana culture. He also clarified that, ‘natural prophecy is not fake, but it is a calling and people need it in their lives.’ Prophet Judah Moengele told The Midweek Sun that to him prophecy is a calling, and he was directed by his ancestors for this purpose. “My late grandfather was a traditional doctor and for me to realise that I also have a calling, it started long back when I was a child, as I would always have weird dreams and visions,” he explained. He also emphasised that prophecy never lies, which is why he urges the government to take a bold step of releasing sedimo to serve its purpose and save the country at different levels. He laments that some people in the community also shun them and undermine their abilities. “Some people call us demons and have a strong belief that ‘chukuchuku’ churches are evil over fire churches. The truth is that it works as God’s gift and many churches around are led by false prophets but people are blind enough to see that,” he said. He added that when someone has God’s gift of prophecy and healing, they do not even care about being paid but false prophets charge people ridiculous amounts of money for their ‘healing.’ He decried that this nation is entirely sick and people are not at all happy about their lives but it is sad that they end up at the doors of false prophets where they spend their hard earned cash hoping to be assisted.

“People are losing money, cars and even get loans, hoping to be assisted but they never get help,” he said.

Prophet Judah Moengele also warns false prophets to stop robbing people of their money, while hiding behind God’s name. “Don’t use God’s name in vain to take advantage of people who are battling with life problems,” he said.

He concurs with the World’s Happiness Index that Botswana is an unhappy nation, as he has observed that people are frustrated because of many socioeconomic problems.

“Some people are known to be angry people, while in the natural realm they are the sweetest people but have been cemented with deacon demons living within them,” he said. He explained that if one has a deacon demon, one is always moody and always prioritises doing things considered to be of darkness.

“This is why it is important for people to recognise the importance of prophecy,” he said, further explaining that God always has a solution for any hardships and through prophecy they are able to see most of the challenges in the supernatural realm and resolve them.
