THE ETTIQUETTE QUEEN PUTS IT IN WRITING

- BOOK WORM

Samantha Matlhagela, a local etiquette consultant’s book

‘Behind the scenes no more, thanks to Etiquette’ directly speaks to individuals to be bold in life and do what they do wholeheartedly.

This is Samantha Matlhagela’s book, which encourages people to think outside the box and find alternative ways of ensuring that they are not stuck in one place, and also not depend on an employer to practice their skills.

The book reveals that the labour demand within sectors has decreased due to the introduction of macjinszyand softwares, contributing to the constantly escalating graduate unemployment rates. It emphasises that qualifications or talent alone cannot make one to stand out. The author further adds that the road from university to career is no longer straight but has become the equivalent of navigating through a maze.

She told ‘Book Worm’ that the book is a memoir of her own career and academic journey. Working in the banking sector after graduating from a Human Resouces field of study has been a rollercoaster ride for her. The book was published by ‘Transilience Book Publishers’ in 2020.

‘The social experienceBehind The Scenes No More,’ is another book that she wrote, which also mirrors her own experiences. “Life behind the scenes afforded me the opportunity to observe and learn from the way people handled various platforms which the spotlight led them to. I took note of their mannerisms, response to power and how they responded to fame and popularity,” she shares.

She has used some of her observations and experiences to teach about etiquette in a fun, relevant and relatable way. She is of the view that opportunities are found sometimes in unlikely ways, therefore encourages people to break out of their shells and strategically position themselves for the life that they dream of.

Matlhagela also writes interesting inspirational journals from time to time.
