Mmutlane scoops Miss Mini Africa

- BY IRENE SHONE

Little queen, Gabriella Mmutlane has put Botswana on the map as she walked away with the Mini Miss Africa title this past weekend in Lagos, Nigeria.

This just typically shows how Botswana is a beautiful diamond country with beautiful women, so says National Director of Little Mister and Miss Africa Botswana Pageant organiser Gaonyafale Phuti.

She could not contain her happiness that this title was won just a few weeks after Miss World where the Botswana queen, Lesego Chombo was crowned Miss World Africa.

The 10 years-old Mmutlane arrived back in Botswana on Sunday and she told Vibe that she was the happiest girl on earth. She said winning this title means a lot to her and she will keep competing until she gets to be crowned Miss Botswana one day.

“I am excited and I was not expecting to win because the competition was tough,” said the beautiful queen. She was contesting against other different African countries. They were 12 African countries competing for the crown.

Phuti said that this marks yet another history in Botswana pageantry. “As a Director, this is totally a dream come true to my brand. After so many years of hard work and challenges I’m so proud because we also won last year. God is really showing off with the pagentry in our country,” she said.

Mmutlane aims at going around all schools in Botswana and other African countries to

encourage her age mates to focus on ‘Education and Talent’ for a brighter future ahead.

She has emphasised that she was motivated by Lesego Chombo. “The plan is to use this reign to inspire many girls out there that if I can do it, then they can too. I want to be a role model to the younger generation and use this platform to start up an initiative where I will stand to protect the girl child, mentally, physically and psychologically,” she said.
