LOCAL BOXERS ACCUMULATE MEDALS IN SA

Botswana’s boxing talent shone brightly at the recent IBA Mandela African Boxing Cup held in Durban, as eight of the country’s finest boxers competed against top contenders from various African nations.

e prestigiou­s tournament showcased the immense skill and determinat­ion of the Botswana team, resulting in an impressive haul of six medals, one gold, one silver, and four bronze. e Botswana Boxing Associatio­n (BoBA) has expressed satisfacti­on with the national team’s performanc­e at the Mandela African Boxing Cup, noting that the six medals won represent a significan­t improvemen­t from their previous outing at the All Africa Games.

e Associatio­n is delighted to see its boxers reclaiming podium finishes in internatio­nal tournament­s, viewing these results as a positive indicator of growth and progress within the sport. In an impressive display of skill, Botswana’s boxers delivered a remarkable performanc­e at the Mandela African Boxing Cup. Mmoloki Sekwape clinched the gold medal in the 57kg category, while Kobamelo Molatlhegi secured a silver medal in the 48kg division.

Furthermor­e, George Molwantwa, Rajab Mahommad, Sekhutlo Kutlwano, and female boxer, Phekiie Bele each claimed bronze medals in their respective categories.
