- BY LAME LUCAS

Kealeboga Tshekiso has accepted his family’s fate and the fact that he has lost his mother to the Limpopo bus crash that claimed the lives of 44 others.

Following the burial of his mother, Boitshoko Tshekiso on Saturday, the 26-year-old is grateful to the government of Botswana for the support given the family since news broke out about the accident to the moment of burial. In an interview with e Midweek Sun, Tshekiso said being the first-born child he remains to assist his three siblings together with his father as their mother left them unexpectedly.

Tshekiso has always regarded his mother as the pillar of the family. She has always encouraged them to focus on God, as He is their only saviour and source of life.“I remember whenever we encountered challenges in the family, she would always sing hymns as a way of comfort,” Tshekiso recalled. He said since the burial this past Saturday, he feels relieved emotionally because he finally saw his mother’s coffin. Tshekiso and his siblings have also enjoyed the company of other family members and relatives, who are still with them at home. “I do not know how it will be when everyone finally goes back to their homes, and we are left here alone,” he said, adding that they will keep on trusting God for complete comfort and healing. What brings comfort is when they share memories of their mother and jokes about her.

“I was very close with my mother as she was the one assisting me financially.

Now I do not know where I will look when challenges come,” Tshekiso said. At the mass funeral of the 45 in Molepolole, Limpopo MEC for Health, Dr Phophi Ramathuba said the South African Road Accident Fund (RAF) officials would contact the families of the deceased for claims. RAF provides compulsory cover to all users of South African roads, citizens and foreigners, against injuries sustained or death arising from accidents involving motor vehicles within the borders of South Africa.

is cover is in the form of indemnity insurance to persons who cause the accident, as well as personal injury and death insurance to victims of motor vehicle accidents, and their families.
