Keatlholetswe Confirms His Departure At Galaxy
Losika Keatlholetswe has confirmed he has parted ways with the national champions, Jwaneng Galaxy.
Keatlholetswe joined Galaxy in October last year, replacing Nikola Kavazovic who has since re-joined Township Rollers.
“Yes it is true. I am no longer with Galaxy. The reason I got from the club is that they have decided to part ways with me because they do not have enough funds to keep me.
The club has informed me that they have lost one of their sponsors which has now made it difficult financially for them,” he said.
Keatlholetswe further told this publication that he has accepted the club’s decision and has enjoyed his stay with the national champions.
He said the experience he got at the club was amazing since he was at the helm when the club competed in the CAF Champions League.
Under Keatlholetswe, Galaxy managed to advance to the next round of the CAF Champions League preliminary round against Comoros club, Zilimadjou. They hammered Zilimadjou 4-0 in the first leg played at Lobatse Sports Complex before they played to a 1-1 draw away, setting a date with South African giants, Mamelodi Sundowns. Keatlholetswe said he was happy to lead the team to such a feat despite the COVID-19 challenges that affected the team directly.
Following a 4-0 drubbing of USD Zilimadjou in the first leg, a member of the Galaxy staff was said to have tested positive for Covid-19.
The team failed to leave for the island nation on a Tuesday as initially scheduled because they had to undergo another round of tests, casting doubt over the second leg tie.
However the team eventually managed to travel and registered a 1-1 draw in the second leg. Against Sundowns, Galaxy lost 2-0 and 3-1 in the first and second legs respectively. Keatlholetswe said despite the disruptions caused by the pandemic during the team’s preparations, he was happy to see it stand its ground.
He was later redeployed to role of technical director with caretaker coach, Boyo Radipotsane leading the team in the CAF Confederations Cup against Orlando Pirates.
