BOSJE Announces First Ever Women’s Concert

The Botswana Society for Jazz Education (BOSJE) announced their firstever music concert in commemorat­ion of Women’s Month titled: ‘Her,’ to be hosted on August 28, 2021. The virtual concert, curated by BOSJE, aims to recognise and celebrate women in the county as well as showcase the inspiring contributi­ons of female artists in the music industry.

The society’s education founding director, Akhutlelen­g Mogami said, “As BOSJE, we are thrilled to host this amazing event to recognise women and the crucial role that they play in our society and industry as a whole. Through this initiative, we hope to tell Her story through the arts and shine a spotlight on Her talent and legacy, in efforts to empower Her, and the young women that follow.”

This concert which will feature riveting performanc­es by Botswana’s leading ladies in the music industry, promises an unforgetta­ble experience. Artists on the line up include: Samantha Mogwe, Jembesoul, Ms. Abbey, Filwe, Jonjobike, Sebaga, Chello and more artists as well as a special performanc­e from the BOSJE band. The Her livestream concert will air exclusivel­y on the Facebook platform empowering local female artists to make their mark in exciting new ‘disruptive’ ways with a thrilling virtual experience.

Concluded Mogami: “With all that is happening in the world right now, it is important to take a pause from the chaos and uplift people’s spirits with our talents. Through the power of music, a subject that is close to my heart, we really hope to make a difference and not only acknowledg­e the greatness that lie in women but also give a memorable experience for our viewers.”
