Pilane On The brink Of Motorcycle History

- Kabelo Boranabi Correspondent

Temogo Pilane is in line to make history by becoming the future first Motswana super motorcycle biker. He will make his debut on August 28 at the Redstar Racetrack in Mpumalanga. The race is in preparation for the 36-yearold’s FIM sanctioned race debut in the World Of Motorsport ZA (WOMZA) series next month in Port Elizabeth, South Africa.

Pilane will on Saturday make a first appearance in the super motorcycle world. Speaking to Sport Monitor over the weekend, Pilane said he is excited ahead of his first race and explained that the aim is to fine tune his skills ahead of a competitive debut next month.

“I am excited; you know when you think you are good at something but when someone who is good at it that tells you, you can make it. I got in touch with the instructors at Redstar and they think I should fine tune a bit there and there. So I am going to use this race on Saturday to prepare for the WOMZA next month,” he said. The Tlokweng-born biker says he has always developed a passion for the motorcycles at a tender age but actually tried it out in 2019. His dreams were nearly shattered last year August after being involved in a car accident. “I almost got killed by a car. The car smacked me when I was on my bike. I almost lost it all; this was August 11 last year. At the time, I could stand the physical pain but what was most painful was the thought that I might not race again.

It has been a passion for me since I was young. I have since paused on my career as an attorney and trying to go full time professional,” he said. Pilane will be leaving forom South Africa tomorrow (Tuesday).
