Mogoditshane Police Station is investigating a case in which a young woman was allegedly kidnapped where assailants made a ransom demand.

Kesebonye ‘Kessy’ Legeru was reported through her Facebook business page as kidnapped on Saturday night before she was later found.

It all started with some Facebook users sharing screenshots from Legeru’s WhatsApp status. In one status, Legeru was seen struggling to release her hands, which were tied behind her back.

She was sobbing with her mouth covered with a white cloth. She wore a Khakhi blazer over her bare upper body. The video was captioned “Save your friend, your galfriend (sic), your family member, how about you go to her place and search for her business bank account papers and send us all her pins and account numbers?

Remember you will be saving her from the pain she is going thru (sic) now. Her phone will be off we will be back in 30min (sic)”.

Another status was written as follows: “We want all the money from kessy creations bank account. We need the numbers which are at back of kessy creations bank card Asap (sic).

We are giving you only this night to go and search all her handbags and send the numbers which are at the back ofcard (sic) or send the picture of the card both side (sic), then we will ne (sic) done with her. Thank you.”

Legeru’s business partner, Joseph Kajoba would not discuss the matter.

“We cannot say anything at this point as advised by the police. They will share whatever information they find when they are ready to do so. We are just happy to have Kessy back,” he said.

It was only the following morning through her business Facebook page that an announcement was made that she had been found by the police and that investigations were ongoing. Mogoditshane Police Station commander, superintendent Russ Letsebe said the case is under investigation.

“We received the report and the victim has been found. There is nothing much to share currently as the matter is still fresh. We are investigating and will share details with the media at a later stage,” he said. Letsebe added they were yet to arrest suspects.
