Security Systems hands ablution block to Nkaikela clinic
The Covid 19 pandemic could not stand in the way of Security System’s ‘Good Samaritan’ spirit and they handed over an ablution block which they had just completed to Nkaikela clinic last week Friday worth P95 000.
While it has been difficult and funds have had to be directed to covid related expenses the company could not ignore the plight of the 43 years old Nkaikela Ward Clinic in Tlokweng, which has had only one toilet for male staff and one for female staff.
Welcoming guests to the handover event, Nkaikela Clinic Principal Registered Nurse, Boago Sebetela expressed her gratitude. “If there was time I would welcome you for the whole hour because every time I call you always come to our assistance,” she said to the company and other stakeholders.
When giving project background, Honourable Phillip Mfolo, Tlokweng Sub-district Council Chairman and councillor for Nkaikela ward, revealed that he came to know about the plight of the clinic while on familiarisation tour with other councillors and Member of Parliament. “Mma Sebetela lamented the deplorable state of the toilets especially during the pandemic,” he stated.
When he found there was no money after consulting the council secretary, Mfolo said he started approaching companies in Tlokweng to no avail. “Then I met an Angel! Security Systems Managing Director, Gabriel Nkgetse said it was tough due to covid but would look at their books. Two weeks later he called and said the project had been approved. The ablution block is of world class standard and even has disability toilet and she-bin,” Mfolo further stated.
Security Systems Managing Director, Gabriel Nkgetse said for close to 40 years of their existence their mission has been to share profit with the community they operate in. The security company has 19 branches across the country in cities, towns and big villages.
“Giving is the only way for our country to move forward into the future and this is our way of paving a way for the future,” said Nkgetse who added that the request for help came at the right time even though it took rather long to complete due to difficulties due to covid 19.
Mr Nkgetse pledged to continue assisting whenever needed. He stated; “It is very important for us to work together to improve the lives of the community especially their health during the pandemic. The situation is so bad that at one point we wondered if there would a tomorrow. Keep knocking and we promise to help.”
Batlokwa Tribal Authority Deputy Paramount Chief, Michael Gaborone said it was not the first time that Security Systems had helped in the village. “There are companies here who just take and never give back but Security Systems is not one of them. At the main Kgotla we had a lot of crime and the company came to our assistance for free and now we don’t have crime at all.
They also renovated Masetlheng ward Kgotla at their own expense and they used to follow me everywhere when I played football so you can see they really want to help,” the chief stated.
Security Services Pastor, Lesang Thukwi also could not hold back his gratitude for the company before he closed with a prayer. He said he joined the company as a security guard and at some was in a wheelchair and MD Nkgetse gave him a hilux vehicle to help his sister. “He’s an Angel of God. Some of us with faith badges and who shout throughout the night will have nothing to show in the end,” said the preacher.
The construction of the ablution block was approved last year in April but due to covid protocols and uncertainty was delayed. The construction was done by the company’s building and maintenance department but they engage for bricklaying among others.
