BSE’s Tshipidi Grooms 11 Mentees
The Botswana Stock Exchange (BSE) on Friday graduated 11 mentees who participated in the 2021 BSE Tshipidi Mentorship Programme.
The Tshipidi Mentorship Programme is a strategic initiative that was introduced by the BSE in 2019 as a way of grooming companies that could potentially raise capital, improve governance and leverage from increased publicity through the stock market in the short to medium terms.
The objective of the scheme is to provide practical training to potential issuers through a comprehensive and interactive programme that covers the key themes necessary to position a company to list on the BSE. The Tshipidi Mentorship is administered by the experts within the listing ecosystem and seeks to bring the potential issuers closer to the listing’s advisers, investors and leaders of already-listed companies.
According to BSE CEO Thapelo Tsheole, for this year’s programme, the local bourse admitted 11 companies due to capacity in respect of health protocols and considerations brought forth by the COVID-19 pandemic.
“These companies were selected from a pool of 65 applications due to the strength of their proposals.
These companies represent a wide array of sectors including hospitality, financial services, property, security, energy, to mention but a few,” he said. The companies are Staywell Hotels, Total Eclipse, Precision Vehicle Tracking & Recovery, FIMA Enterprises, VTM Security, Maison Properties, Tempest Gold, Sycamon, Kalahari Energy, Floritec and Maxwell Dichi Enterprises.
The mentorship programme is a strategy to support small businesses access to finance and to attract listings, as the handholding will assist potential issuers to strategise, corporatise and acclimatise in order to ultimately list on the BSE.
For enrolment in the mentorship programme, the BSE requires a comprehensive company profile, certificate of incorporation as well as a cover or motivating letter.
The submission is assessed by the BSE team and feedback is relayed within a stipulated time period.
