Sefalana Offers Ray Of Hope

- Goitsemodimo Kaelo Correspondent

With societies still battling effects and disruptions brought about by COVID-19, the Sefalana Group offers some hope. Sefalana says its Win a Mobile Kiosk competition will go a long way in relieving families of the burden of buying groceries at least for the next 12 months.

Speaking after completing the grand draw finale for the group’s completion, which was held amidst fanfare on Friday at the group’s Block 3 Hyper Store in Gaborone, Sefalana marketing executive, Reggie Klinck said like any other retail and manufacturing business, Sefalana has been hard hit by the COVID-19 pandemic. However, he said that could not stop them from extending a compassionate hand to members of the society who also felt the brunt of the pandemic. He said it was only reasonable that they shared the little they made with their customers.

The competition has been sponsored to the tune of P1.8 million worth of prizes, which include a grand prize of mobile kiosks, food hampers worth P18,000 and P12,000 respectively to be won by 28 individuals for 12 months from their different branches across the country. Klinck said COVID-19 put a lot of strain on the availability of funds, as it depressed trading.

He said retail companies took a pounding due to the sale regulations which were put in place to curb the spread of COVID-19. “But we still found it necessary to commit and do a promotion of this nature so that at the end of the day we give Batswana something that they can use to uplift themselves and that takes off a lot of pressure on people because things have been tough. A lot of businesses have closed,” Klinck said. “Some people’s earnings have been very low and they have been wondering where the [next] meal is going come from so, that on its own is going to bring a lot of relief to the already tight budgets.

As you know, food prices have been going up. Inflation is not on our side so things are going to be pretty tough, but at least those who have won these prices can live and rest assured that for the next 12 months they know where they are going to get their next meal and they worry about something else,” he added. The competition started on July 16 and ended on September 5, 2021.
