One injured in donkey cart accident

Aman in his 30s is fighting for his life in Princess Marina Hospital (PMH) after a donkey cart he was riding was involved in an accident with a truck along the Majaalela-Goodhope road on Friday.

A man in his 30s is fighting for his life at the Princess Marina Hospital (PMH) after a donkey cart he was riding was involved in an accident with a truck along the Gamajaalel­a-Goodhope road on Friday.

Superinten­dent Batshwari Gaobatlelw­e said the incident occurred when the truck that was carrying sand was trying to overtake a donkey cart and accidental­ly hit the carriage on the side overturnin­g it. Gaobatlelw­e said the donkey cart had two occupants both males of which one of them sustained serious injuries and was referred to PMH where he is currently fighting for his life.

He further stated that the truck driver escaped with minor injuries. “The other occupant escaped the accident with minor injuries and was treated and released the same day at the Goodhope Clinic.

Investigat­ions on the matter are ongoing to establish what really transpired but we have since arrested and charged the truck driver, in his 30s, with driving without a driver’s license and careless driving,” he said.
