Kazungula Options break-in trio nabbed

- Lesedi Mkhutshwa

FRANCISTOWN: Police in Kazungula have arrested three Batswana men for breaking into Options store and stealing valuables worth around P17,200.

When confirming the incident, Kazungula station commander, Superintendent Phetogo Phillimon said the trio-alongside another who is still at large-broke into Options and stole clothes worth about P12,200 and P5,000 cash from the shop tills.

He said they managed to arrest three culprits out of the four.

Phillimon said the break-in occurred on April 26 at around 2:00am after the police officers who were on duty came across two Batswana males carrying a bag.

“Upon seeing the police they threw away the bag and ran for the nearby bush. The police took the suspicious bag that was full of new expensive clothes,” he narrated.

“Later on, the same day at around 9:00am, we received a report from the Options store manager indicating that there was a break-in into their shop.”

He said they then opened a case and started investigations on the matter.

“Our investigation led to the arrest of the three men aged between 18 and 30 years. We managed to recover some of the stolen property from the bag which was later identified by the store manager,” he added.

The station head indicated that they recovered property worth P6,000 whereas the rest of it is still untraceable.

Phillimon suspected that the non-recovered stolen property was with the other suspect who was still at large.

The Kazungula police chief said the suspects used the backside of the shop and lifted the aluminium roofing sheets to enter the store. The trio will appear before court on Tuesday.
