It was massive celebration at BA ISAGO University on th 29th of April 2022 as the University hosted its 15th Graduatio Ceremony. The Ceremony, which was held virtually in line wit the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic at th University’s Gaborone Campus, conferring qualifications t a total of 360 students graduating from different certificat diploma and degree programmes.

Dr Ruramayi Tadu, the University President, giving his opening remarks, congratulated the graduating Class of 2022, who have made history today by being the first cohort of students to graduate during the second semester, following a decision by the University to hold two graduation ceremonies in a year.

Dr Tadu mentioned that this move by the University was a direct response to the pleas by the students, who normally complete their studies in December, would ordinarily have to wait for almost a year to get their certificates during the traditional October Graduation Ceremony.

The University President highlighted that the theme for this year’s convocation is “20 Years of Empowering Progress” and that it is indeed an honour for him to deliver this address to graduands in the year that the University commemorates its grand 20th Anniversary. Dr Tadu mentioned that graduands are entering a relatively saturated job market in a number of fields and he would like to impress on them how much the work environment has changed, as well as how much qualifications have also evolved to meet new demands. ‘These changes are mainly driven by technology, with the labour market being forced to respond to such changes.

As such, institutions of higher learning like BA ISAGO University must also adapt to these changes by providing relevant and properly equipped graduates for today’s corporate landscape. “It is my most sincere hope that the University has not failed you in this regard”, Dr Tadu added. The President ended his special address by encouraging the graduands not to be afraid and to try out new things, as that is the very essence of innovation.

He closed with words once spoken by bert Einstein: ‘In order to succeed, your d sire for success should be greater than yo fear of failure’. “Do not fear failure, but fe not trying hard enough. You are bound to f quite a number of times before you event ally succeed, so keep your eyes on the ul mate goal”, Dr Tadu concluded.

The Guest of Honour, Deputy Chairperson of the Board of Directors and co-Founder of BA ISAGO University, Mrs. Ruth T. Gabasiane mentioned that as BA ISAGO University turns 20, it is imperative to reflect on the trials and tribulations of yester years and the journey that led to the current University status. “Twenty years is a long time and must be celebrated, without fail, boldly, confidently and without being apologetic at all”.
