DGB wine show returns

It will be a wine fete at Avani Gaborone Resort & Casino Hotel’s Centre Court Gardens on November 26, 2022 when the DGB Wine Show makes a return following a two-year hiatus due to COVID-19.

During the occasion, wine lovers will get a treat and be exposed to a wide range of wines on offer.

The event, which is held under the theme Gain the Edge on Wine will accord patrons chance with Wine maker Dico Du Toit who will take them through a wine pairing experience.

There will be ten cellars on the day to make the event a memorable one for wine lovers. The organisers hosted members of the media recently to update them on the upcoming event and give them an appetiser of what it is to come.

Jorge Ferreira, regional manager for DGB Wines told journalist­s that the event has become more than just a show but a lifestyle and entertainm­ent occasion.

Apart from tantalizin­g their buds with some of the Cape’s finest wines, patrons will be educated on assorted wine varieties, their recommende­d food pairings as well as the wine drinking etiquette. The event will also feature a chocolate and wine pairing moment.

Among the brands that will be offered include Bellingham, Boschendal, Branpton, Douglas Green, Franschoek cellar, Sunkissed, Tall Horse, Vineyard Friends, Old Road Wine Co and Fryers Cove.

George said the show has grown over the years, with the youthful generation of the city having been taken over by the wine drinking lifestyle and experience.

“DGB has a rich history of putting great shows in Gaborone. It has been two years since the show was last held. It will feature a variety of wines from the Cape including a Franschoek wine has been introduced in recent years. The young generation has taken to drinking wine. Lengau has introduced wine drinking to the young generation of Botswana, which has now become a lifestyle,” he said.

The show will also feature a list of turntables such as Amapiano Dj N.S.I, Dj Frostbite and DJ Scratch who will entertain patrons. There will also be live body exhibition by local visual artist, Prince Tom.

The event is organized by DGB in partnershi­p with Lengau Wine Company, a local distributi­on company that specialize­s in wine, craft beer and spirits.

Tickets for the show sell for P250 each and include 20 tasting coupons & cheese basket. They are available at Webtickets, all Super Spar outlets and Maitisong.
