Khumo Studios to host Mosadi Khumo Women’s Empowerment
Khumo Studios will be hosting the first annual Mosadi Khumo Women’s Empowerment Concert at the Molapo Showcase Piazza on April 14, 2023.
According to Khumo Studios associate producer, Tricia Sello, the event is meant to celebrate and appreciate impactful women in the creative industry. Sello explained that the unprecedented event would be the first of its kind in Botswana, featuring an all-woman’s line-up of artists, speakers and performers.
“Mosadi Khumo was created by Khumo Studios to aid in the empowerment of women in Botswana’s creative industry by strengthening and developing networking opportunities for women in both the creative and corporate sectors. We hope through this event to foster strong networks among women who have a clear understanding of how they can contribute to the development of film and TV in Botswana,” Sello said.
“It is our belief that through women who are already actively involved in the creative industry we can begin the process of building a solid foundation for increased employment opportunities as well as a profitable and long-lasting industry.
Mosadi Khumo will begin the day by showcasing the variety and talents of many women entrepreneurs, some of who will be sponsored by an assortment of Botswana’s top businesses,” she added.
Sello also said talented businesswomen will have stalls at Molapo Showcase. In the evening, she said they would showcase some of Botswana’s talented female artists, poets, singers, speakers, actors, and dancers, at different stages in their careers. In that same space, they would also take time to ‘offer flowers’ and acknowledge the contributions of those who came before, celebrating and awarding them in appreciation.
She added that as the concert begins, guests would enjoy performances from Botswana’s top female artists including Amaar Brown, Priscilla K, Dato Seiko, Ms. Abbey, Lioness Ratang, The Fleek Band, Fizzy the DJ and C.A.L.M dance crew, hosted by actress Bonolo Moletsane and Flava Dome presenter Sadi Dikgaka. She therefore called on the public to come out and join them for the Mosadi Khumo Concert at Molapo Showcase Piazza and support the local women lead businesses, with an evening of music, networking, dance, celebration, upliftment and opportunity for all.
