Hogs rout Ryders in one-sided affair

White Hogs took Ryders to the cleaners in a 95-0 whitewash during the Botswana Rugby Union (BRU) Super League first round match played at the Hogs ground on Saturday.
Hogs went into the match full of confidence and that was evident in their dominant display. Ryders were aware that they had to improve their kicking game and defense if they had a chance of holding a strong Hogs side. The hosts did not waste time as they took war to the opposition.
Hogs left centre, Godknows Mavara claimed the first try of the game in the 10th minute to give his side a 5-0 lead. Ryders were awarded a scrum in the middle of the park after a spot on call by referee, Naledi Chabe in the 15th minute. There was good work from Brighton Chinyanya who sliced his way through the Ryders line to ground the ball over the line and extend Hogs lead. Hogs fly half, Tapiwa Malenga made no mistake with the conversion taking the lead to 12-0. Ryders players began to lose focus as Hogs were dangerous with the ball creating chances through the wings. There was a scrum inside Ryders goal area after a knock on and an off side call in the 23rd minute.
Mavara extended the lead with an easy try a few minutes later with Malenga kick taking the Hogs lead to 19-0. At this crucial moment of the game, Ryders needed to get points to respond to the pressure.
The visitors tried to dig deep, with substitutions being made but nothing was recorded on the scoreboard. By the end of first half, Hogs led 45-0. Hogs full back, Mpho Ramorweenyane started the second half on a high note, hitting a try to push the lead beyond Ryders reach. Despite being dominated, Ryders tried to build going towards the try line but, Hogs were on alert to break the threat. The flood gates of scoring continued and Ryders could not do anything to reverse the flow. It was only the referee’s whistle that came to Ryders’ rescue as Hogs
