Pork lovers get meat paradise

Although there were few shortcomin­gs like long queues, pork lovers got the chance to indulge in a meat lovers’ paradise at the ‘Pigs-on-Fire’ event held at Waterstone, Events & Conferenci­ng in Gaborone this past Saturday.

There was something for everyone. Even though it was a pork event, attendees were treated to all kinds of meat to cater for nonpork eaters. Pigs on Fire was indeed a pork feast that offered people an all you can meat experience with serving from smokers and braai purely on fire.

The event featured mouth-watering BBQ from across the country. The organisers also made sure that they hosted live music for patrons to enjoy as they took a seat in the park to feast on the great food. Children activities were also available as most people came with their families to enjoy pork on a laid back afternoon. As winter settles in marking the end of outdoor events, it was one last opportunit­y and a perfect chance for people to bring their family out to feast on some of the best barbecue in town.

It was not just the pork lovers but pork producers, industry profession­als and industry experts also attended and the venue was packed.

Speaking of packed, people had to wait in long queues something that did not sit well with some of patrons. There was one serving point and they were later increased to two but that did not solve the problem as people kept coming in. It looked as if the organisers of the event did not anticipate a large crowd. But besides that, just like the organisers had promised, the bottomless pork braai session was a demonstrat­ion of the potential that pork has in the country.

Overall, once again meat lovers got the opportunit­y to savour the flavour from the best barbecue cookers and they had quite a feast.
