UNION SIGNED FOUR AGREEMENTS WITH DIFFERENT SERVICE PROVIDERS
New products and services added to the membership basket of opportunities
To contribute to the professional and personal development of the Union members, Botswana Teachers Union (BTU) entered into four agreements with different service providers.
The Union partnered with the following service providers through these agreements: the INSTITUTE OF DEVELOPMENT MANAGEMENT (IDM), SECURITY SYSTEMS, BANK GABORONE, EMERGENCY ASSIST 991 AND DIAGNOFIRM LABORATORIES.
BTU subscribing members will enjoy various services these partners offer at negotiated costs, such as education, security services, access to financial assistance, emergency assistance services, and health services.
Speaking at the launch of these partnerships in Francistown on the 19th May 2023, BTU President Comrade Gotlamang Oitsile highlighted that the agreements resonate well with one of the core objectives of the Union, which are “to be the largest and best in advocacy for members’ welfare and improved socio-economic status.”
Comrade Oitsile said the Union is committed to playing an integral part in promoting teachers’ academic performance in line with the objective “to strive for the improvement of academic and professional qualifications of members.”
The Union’s commitment to the academic performance of its members development is second to none. This is shown by its futuristic theme, used at the Union 2022 Congress of Delegates, “Empowering Educators: Building Globally Competitive Human Capital for the Nation.”
Comrade Oitsile said the theme was to reaffirm the Union’s position in line with its slogan, “We Educate”.
“We refuse to fold our arms and do nothing for the country’s education sector,” emphasized the Union President.
He pleaded with members of BTU to continue offering the best service and imparting knowledge to the country’s citizens; while the Union takes part in its advocacy and protection of their welfare and conditions of service.
