BTU and Partners showers Exceptiona­l teacher with rewards

Little did he know that his invitation from the Union President would see him honoured by the Botswana Teachers Union (BTU) and other partners with a relationsh­ip with the Union.

Shasher River Senior School-based chemistry teacher, Mr Farmer Bagai put his face into a smile following the Union’s decision to honour him with a special award in recognitio­n of his national record performanc­e.

The teacher achieved a 100 per cent credit pass and became the country’s best chemistry teacher in the 2022 Botswana General Certificat­e of Secondary Education (BGCSE).

The Union has awarded Mr Bagai with Union-branded souvenirs and a total cash of four thousand pula only (P4,000), which the Union’s investment arm, More Power Investment­s, pledges (MPI) P10, 000. Bank Gaborone and Emegency Assist 991 pledged to increase the amount as well.

Security Systems, which has also agreed to offer members their services at a reduced costs, pledged to provide security services for free for a year to Mr Bagai.

In his remarks, BTU President Comrade Gotlamang Oitsile said, “After hearing of the wonderful work done by our colleague, who is a member of BTU, we shied away from holding our arms and doing nothing.”

BTU Vice President Secondary, Comrade Galefetolw­e Dithobane, was assigned to see what could be done to recognise this exceptiona­l teacher.

The excited teacher thanked the Union and those who recognised his performanc­e. He said it was only through hard work that he produced good results every year, despite the challenges they face as teachers.
