With the festive season fast approaching, the Botswana Tourism Organisation (BTO) has kicked off a nationwide domestic travel campaign, urging locals to explore the country’s tourism gems.

The three-week-long campaign launched in Gaborone at The Fields Mall on Saturday, resonating with the theme, ‘Botswana Your Home, Your Adventure’.

The mall served as a vibrant hub where key players in the local tourism scene showcased their offerings, enticing residents to explore various destinations across the country.

BTO marketing manager, Naledi Pule expressed satisfaction with the enthusiastic response from both service providers and consumers on the campaign’s first day. She emphasised the world-class quality of services and products provided by local tourism entities, asserting the need for locals to discover and enjoy these destinations during the festive season.

Pule commended service providers for offering affordable travel rates, tailored specifically for Batswana.

“We are with operators in the tourism sector and they are saying to Batswana that you should come and enjoy the festive packages they are providing. The rates of these packages are specifically made for Batswana so this is a call for locals that they should come and benefit from these packages.

We encourage Batswana to travel with their families and friends to explore and enjoy the beauty of our national tourism destinations,” Pule urged.

She highlighted the diversity within local tourism, noting that consumers with various tastes would find a plethora of options as they plan for the festive season.

“We have companies offering crafts, bags, skin products and much more. Gastronomy tourism providers, hotels, camping sites, and their packages are particularly enticing,” Pule remarked.

The BTO’s domestic travel campaign is set to traverse various locations over the next three weeks, including Kasane, Maun, Francistown, Selebi-Phikwe, Palapye, Tsabong and Gantsi. The aim is to encourage Batswana to explore the richness of their own country and experience the diverse offerings available.
