GAMONONYANE: VTM FC’s head coach, Leutlwetse Tshireletso is looking to turn the fortunes of the team around at home after registering a fourth defeat this season. On Saturday afternoon, VTM lost 2-0 to visiting Eleven Angels in a Botswana Premier League (BPL) tie played at the VTM Arena. The Premier League debutants have proven to be better visitors than hosts having collected two points on the road and lost all the three games played at home.

VTM is teasing with relegation early in to the season as top flight football proves to be a much tougher terrain for BPL’s youngest club. “It has been a difficult start for us. We are dropping points at home but it has proven that we are good travellers. Away, we are doing well, even our identity, our structure is visible. I do not know what is happening when we play home, where we are supposed to collect points. But as a coach, I have to look for solutions and corrections,” said Tshireletso on Saturday afternoon. The gaffer further said despite the poor run of form, he has the full backing of the club’s top brass.

It was a rather slow start to the game until Lemponye Tshireletso received a ball from Lucky Mokoena on the 20th minute, but saw his attempt saved by the goalkeeper. The visitors had their say on the half hour mark with Fungai Muzila teasing with a cross for Aaron Sautu but the latter’s poor connection saw the chance go to waste. On the 38th minute, Sfiso Myeni came close for VTM with a long range effort but it missed the goal by just a whisker.

Angels opened the score on the stroke of halftime. Muzila had his shot blocked into Bakang Mpatane’s path and the attacker slotted into the bottom corner to make it 1-0 for the visitors.

Two minutes into the second half, Keletso Ogotseng saw his low driven attempt go widely off the post. On the 50th minute, Lemponye missed the goal as he directed his header wide. On the break, Sautu was allowed space in the area as he converted Ogotseng’s cross into the net to make it 2-0 for Angels on the 54th minute.

Tlhalefo Molebatsi could have pulled one back on the 58th minute but he hit the cross bar. The visitors slowed down the tempo of the game to protect the three points as the team sat on the 10th spot on Saturday evening.
