Kwa Isong Cultural Festival promises another cultural treat

Following a successful return last year, cultural enthusiast­s are set for another treat when Kwa Isong Cultural Festival takes place on November 25.

The event, which is organised by Camel’s Inn Lodge at Mmopane will be happening for the fourth edition since it was first launched in 2018.

Although it had a two-year break due to the

COVID-19 pandemic, the festival made a reverberat­ing return last year, reflecting its popularity.

The event offers patrons a chance to enjoy the cream of traditiona­l music as well as the local cuisine. Speaking during the event activation on Saturday, Camel’s Inn Lodge Managing Director, Barudi Mosimaneot­sile said the event plans on preserving culture and ensures that it does not go extinct.

Mosimaneot­sile also said those who missed the previous edition would get a chance to be part of an event that makes people feel proud of their identity. “We want to keep the momentum going from last year. This is an event meant to showcase the best of our culture preserve it. We don’t have much but we want to contribute by preserving our heritage,” said Mosimaneot­sile.

The organisers have lined up a list of decorated artists to entertain revellers during the festival. They include Matsieng, Mafitlhakg­osi traditiona­l dance, Sua Pan, tsarabutse­re, Dr Rabluu, Western the Guitarist, Son of Africa,

Gata-La-Tau traditiona­l dance and Dj The Queen Rose. One of Matsieng members Roy said they are ready to dazzle the audience with their catalogue of music. He expressed gratitude at this opportunit­y saying traditiona­l music artists don’t get such opportunit­ies to showcase. Dr RaBluee said events like this should be supported because they are for a good cause. He called on the media to expose the event and the artists who will be performing.

Tickets for the event sell for P100 single, P150 double and P50 kids.
