Norsad Capital, the investment fund for Southern Africa, has committed to support the Local Enterprise Authority (LEA) in the agency’s drive to empower aspiring entrepreneurs and cultivate thriving business ecosystem.

As part of the pledge, the company donated P100, 000 to LEA and the Botswana Council for the Disabled which was used to fund entrepreneurship development programme.

A representative from Norsad, Motheo Magasha, said the funds were channelled towards training the graduates while some were allocated for their welfare during the training.

“About P30,000 was used to train entrepreneurs, P45,000 was used to pay for the venue and food throughout the training programme that lasted a week and P25,000 was used to pay trainers, caretakers and cameraman,” she said.

“By facilitating access to financial resources and providing mentorship opportunities, Norsad

aims to nurture a generation of innovative and self-sufficient individuals.” Another member of Norsad, Charity Lesetedi, underscored their intention to continue collaborating with LEA.

She ex- pressed the company’s enthusiasm for the mutual growth and development that emerges through such partnerships. “We really believe that this collaboration is going to be long-term because mostly we are looking at the impact that we are bringing to our communi ties that are often excluded, like the Botswana Council for the Disabled,” Lesetedi said.

For his part, LEA Chief Development Officer, Onkabetse Moatlhodi highlighted the significance of securing financial support from partners like Norsad. He emphasized the crucial role that investors and financial institutions play in empowering LEA to deliver impactful programmes and initiatives.

“Having partners like Norsad is really good because it helps us as LEA to be able to assist entrepreneurs in a more efficient way, and I’m calling on investors and financers to come on board and help how they can,” Moatlhodi said. Calling upon potential investors to contribute towards the cause, Moatlhodi emphasized the long-term benefits of nurturing entrepreneurship within the community.

“By pledging support to LEA, investors can actively contribute to empowering individuals, bridging economic gaps, and bolstering local industries, this government speaks of mindset change, something that we really need to pocket to get the best out of our businesses,” he added.
