Africa Youth Entrepreneurs summit billed for February
The sixth annual Africa Entrepreneurs Summit (AYES) is set to take place on February 28- 29 at the University of Botswana Conference Centre.
This year’s summit will be held under the theme, “Advancing Creative Industries in the Digital Economy,” with a specific focus on the role of the creative business in the continent.
Founder and president of AYES, Lemogang Senwelo, stated that the summit first started in 2017, explaining that this year will be the sixth installment of the event.
She added they are targeting mainly young entrepreneurs, but also cater for everyone and there is no age restriction.
AYES has invited entrepreneurs who are doing well in the business sector to be the panellists at the summit.
“The summit aims to build collaborations and partnerships, open up networks for different entrepreneurs and give a chance to local entrepreneurs to expand themselves in the market and be able to compete with other businesses,” she said.
Senwelo said focusing on the creative natives will help the poets, artists to come and showcase their talents as she believes that “your talent is your business”.
According to the AYES founder, this year will be the first time that the event takes two. The event was previously a one day conference.
This time around, she said, it will be a conference on the first day where they will be educating and informing young entrepreneurs on how to enter the market. On the second day, it will be a creative hub and creative market outside where entrepreneurs will be able to showcase their products and services.
The conference will provide a platform for young entrepreneurs and creatives to explore the potential of the creative business in the digital economy.
