Perception: Attribute of traction and rhythm

As a man or woman, you must have a vision that is clear and sound. Furthermore, you must work towards the vision simply because it will not achieve itself but it requires us to work and sacrifice everything around us.

Good day Coach,

Ihope my email finds you in a great health posture. I am a 20-year-old young man whom unfortunately, did not do well in his BGCSE examinations and became a nobody within my family as well as the community. I spent two years idling and had nothing to do. I deem it the time of self-realisation. I reflected on what my teachers and elders lamented on regarding taking school seriously.

Life was so tough until about three months ago when a friend of mine shared a Security Guard position advertisement with me. I promptly reacted to the job application and here I am. I wake up every morning to also serve. My goal is to re-sit for my BGCSE exams so that I could improve my results and increase a possibility of enrolling for a degree in Accounting and Finance. I am passionate about being an accountant.

My biggest challenge is my elder siblings, who I feel abuse me financially. It is unfortunate that they do not want to go seek employment even if I avail some opportunities to them. Every time I get paid, they flock to me like hungry vultures; everyone wanting to get a piece of my sweat. I am failing to pay for my re-take school enrolment and see out my dream of graduating. I am expected to furnish all the livelihood requirements in our home and it is affecting me a lot. The most annoying part is that they all do not want to go look for jobs so that they could also support their families within my mother’s family.

Please help me out. I am suffocating due to this challenge. What can I do to best remedy it?

Yours,

Dear Anonymous,

I am doing very well and thank you for asking. Sometimes I wonder if people think I am always okay at all times since I hardly get such warn well wishes. Anyway, I would like to allude to the fact that most young people are subject to financial abuse especially from their elderly siblings who feel entitled to our finances simply because they have once looked after us. They see a kid who can just submit to their greedy behaviour.

As a man or woman, you must have a vision that is clear and sound. Furthermore, you must work towards the vision simply because it will not achieve itself but it requires us to work and sacrifice everything around us. I am proud of you to have realised that you still have a good chance to redeem yourself from the whole failing saga and build a future filled with greatness. Hence, be as much selfish as possible and commit to your goals; it is the only way or channel that could lead you to the manifestation of your dream. All the best and looking forward to the update at the end of the year.

Dear Coach,

I feel that my little sister is always running helter-skelter and she is very inconsistent with her desire to operate her own businesses. She is only 26-yearsold but has run more than 10 different businesses. I believe that she is capable to successfully run her entrepreneurs but her impatience costs her the breakthrough.

She started off with poultry and I do not know what happened and the next moment it was flat on the ground. She is too stubborn to get advices from anyone and at times she is a loner. That makes us to never get the opportunity to speak to her.

Her ideas are so brilliant but her mind is unstable. She does not want to give any of her ideas a room to breathe and grow organically. When they appear promising, another one booms from nowhere and it starts to compete for funding with the existing one and ultimately they both fail. I do not know how to help her to get through with her ambitions because I believe she is gifted with a business mind and deserves the lifestyle of a business lady. She is the only one in the family with such an opportunistic mindset in our family. Please advice Coach.

Dear Anonymous,

This message has really struck me enormously. The love you possess for your sibling is amazing. If there is anything anyone would die for, is such kind of love. Your sister lacks an element of determination and focus. You can have all sorts of ideas but if you don’t have a sense of commitment, you will run from pillar to post in no direction.

People who lack determination are overly stubborn and rigid on what they believe in but sometimes lack a concrete plan on how they will achieve so many ideas. It is advisable to always write your vision or plan down, break it into small yet doable tasks that are also predicated by time bounds. Being able to attain this, will give her the confidence to know when to upscale the business or when not. It will give you a health check of what you are trying to express.

She must curb all negative thoughts that jars on her mind and grow a strong sense of self- efficacy. If she wants to really be wealthy, she should be as agile as possible so while creating opportunities.
