“This dual functionality ensures that farmers have the flexibility and support needed to optimise their yields sustainably, aligning with the government’s vision to enhance local agricultural production,” he added.

He stressed the importance of providing farmers access to modern storage facilities, stating that it “supports the government’s vision to restrict the import of produce”.

“By offering readily accessible storage solutions, the Safe Pro Cold Storage Facility will enable retailers across Botswana to access a consistent supply of locally grown fruits and vegetables, promoting food security and economic stability,” he observed.

Moreover, Malique highlighted the multifaceted capabilities of the facility, stating that it goes beyond mere storage.

He alluded that this value addition underscores Botswana’s commitment to promoting higher standards in agricultural output and increasing competitiveness in both local and international markets. Masisi commended the investors behind the initiative.

“I applaud the investors of this fresh produce facility for their dedication to leveraging the latest technologies and expertise from around the world,” stated the President.
