Tafic TD slams Exco

Technical Director blames leadership for club’s relegation

- BY KABELO DIPHOLO

Tafic Football Club’s Technical Director, Benedict Bayani, has penned a scathing report blaming the club’s current problems squarely on the 2019/20 Executive Committee.

In an interview with Voice Sport, Bayani said it was important for him to give this report ahead of the club’s elective Annual General Meeting this Saturday.

“The Exco is a complete failed leadership whose remnants should never be allowed to stand for any position in the team, at least for now. We should go to the First Division for a renaissance, for re-energisation and rebuilding, otherwise Tafic will be a yoyo team forever,” blasted Bayani.

Bayani said if marked out of 10, he would give the outgoing committee two!

He insisted that administratively, the committee failed abysmally.

“Their downfall was co-opting members from the old failed committee, who added no value to the team!” he argued.

In the report, Bayani claims there was never a single meeting held by the outgoing Exco, save for the virtual meetings on 21st June and 6th August.

“All decisions were singularly and nocturnally arrived at. As such there are no minutes. The Exco failed to draw a strategic roadmap for the team. Everything was on a trialand-error basis!” he added.

The Technical Director accused the previous committee of treating players like tools to be exploited.

“Promises to the players were flouted and adulterated with extreme abandon with some players openly challenging the validity of their contracts. Whenever they raised these issues, they would receive threats,” declared Bayani.

The unimpressed TD said the committee also failed to provide Head Coach, Stanley Mwanga, with the agreed remuneration, accommodation and other perks resulting in arrears the incoming committee will find difficult to clear.

“The debt to the Technical Team and players by this Exco is too huge to bear and the incoming committee has a lot on their hands. It’s one of the reasons we failed to maintain the advantage the team had when the league started and were overtaken by sides that were docked six points at the beginning of the season,” he said, adding that the Technical committee did not get support to secure the tools needed to drill a modern soccer team.

“Despite all this, Tafic had assembled one of the best youthful talents that needs to be nurtured and professionally guided. The team is capable of bouncing back to the Premier League in style this coming season,” he said.

“This can only be possible if we vote well this Saturday and avoid chancers who’d scare away potential sponsors,” warned Bayani.
