MORE CHARGES FOR MAN WHO KILLED HIS MOTHER

- BY CATHERINE MOEMEDI

IN addition to a murder charge he is currently facing for allegedly killing his mother, Kehetwe Molapisi, in cold blood on June 28th, 2020, the 40-year-old double murder suspect is facing three more charges, which he has dismissed as “ridiculous.”

According to the new charge sheet, Moabi Molapisi is facing a single count of breaking into his mother’s house with an intention to commit a crime. It is alleged that during the attack, the mother locked herself in her bedroom and Molapisi broke down the bedroom door with an axe to gain access.

Molapisi has also been slapped with a single count of obtaining by false pretenses. It is indicated in court documents that before driving to Ramotswa to kill his exgirlfriend, Gofiwa Kabelo, the murder accused filled up his mother’s car with P847.40 fuel at Sedie Shell filling station in Maun and sped off without paying.

The final charge is a single count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle since the car that he drove to commit all the offences did not belong to him but to his late mother.

However, Moabi dismissed the additional charges as ridiculous. “Some of the charges are ridiculous, especially the last one. I have been using that car for five years now and I have never been charged with unlawful use although I have a drunken driving case,” argued Molapisi before he went to enquire about his bail. “When will I be allowed to re-apply for bail since the state alleges that they have completed their investigations?” asked Molapisi.

Meanwhile, the Prosecutor, Modibedi Tladi, has maintained that they are not ridiculous charges as Moabi claimed and instead they are all relevant to the case.
