In an endeavor to help its members build their own houses, Botswana Sectors of Educators Trade Union (BOSETU) has embarked on an exciting new partnership with Builders Mart - a division of Kamoso Africa. Speaking at the initiative’s official launch on Wednesday, BOSETU President, Winston Radikolo described the partnership as an important milestone in the Union’s service delivery strategy. “Pitched at the top of our strategy is a theme, and this theme is advocacy for our members. Just underneath advocacy, we have the overarching objective of social benefit,” highlighted Radikolo, adding the Union strives to provide social benefits to members to improve their welfare. To that end, Radikolo revealed BOSETU had ‘knocked on several doors’ in their efforts to build value for members. Although officially referred to as a partnership, Radikolo stressed the Union view the alliance as more of ‘a relationship’ with Builders Mart. “The benefits of a relationship far outweigh that of a partnership. We consider BOSETU and Kamoso Africa as a family where are we are going to assist Builders Mart in building value for its shareholders. But as BOSETU, we are excited because this is going to enhance our value-chain,” he said. Thanking Builders Mart for agreeing to work with BOSETU, President Radikolo concluded, “It is a very important milestone and achievement in our quest to build value for our members.”

Giving an overview of the project, Kamoso Africa Group Head of Marketing, Ishmael Masuku explained BOSETU members would have access to all 27 Builders Mart stores nationwide. Additionally, he said the hardware and electrical items retailer has a large fleet which ensures timely delivery to all clients. “At Builders Mart we believe the motto, ‘Building a Better Tomorrow’ – and this couldn’t have been better placed anywhere else in assisting the custodians of a better tomorrow, the educators,” declared Masuku. The Marketing Head further disclosed the scheme will also include products sold by Mont Catering, a sister company to Builders Mart that sells butcher, bakery, catering equipment and air conditioners. For his part, BOSETU National Organising Secretary, Mmoloki Bopa explained the partnership was the result of the union’s desire to help members build homes for themselves. “We at BOSETU have the office of National Organising Secretary, and one of its key mandates is to look for social and economic benefits for its members,” Bopa outlined. Besides improving the lives of its members, Bopa expressed confidence the deal would also help the Union retain its members, with membership currently standing at 18, 000 across the country. “We believe this deal will assist members in changing their lives, and will
