Another SOE extension

-

The start of April brought about the motion to extend the State of Emergency (SOE) for a second time.

Many across social media were less than impressed at the news, with the strongest criticism reserved for the current 8pm - 4am curfew possibly being stretched to September.

Although it was later clarified that this is not set in stone and can be lifted/amended as and when government sees fit, the public was not appeased.

“It’s funny how they can simply toy with people’s livelihoods like this. What about people’s businesses like restaurants or even grocery stores? After work everyone is rushing

home, they won’t have time to do anything else,” blasted one critic.

Using humour to make a valid point, another noted, “Who told them that Corona only travels at night?”

Prominent lawyer, Uyapo Ndadi’s interpretation of the new SOE is that there are no regulations at all, pointing out, “For Regulations to have effect, whether it is after extension of SOE, they have to be affirmed by Parliament. A State of Emergency with no Regulations is like a car without an engine. Parliament has made a monumental blunder!”

What do you make of our leadership’s handling of the pandemic?

Many are upset with these new revelations.

“But how did Dada have access to this Vaccine? We really love our government and this country and I just hope these rumours are untrue. This will be a scandal and a half probably the biggest Covid Scandal ever and heads must roll off it’s true,” demanded one comment.

I wonder what it takes to make ‘the elite list’!
