Located at Main Mall in Gaborone, the latest addition to the JB empire is perfectly placed to take advantage of the hustle and bustle at the heart of the capital. The store’s launch marks the start of a busy year for the sportswear giant, with another five outlets lined up for opening across the country in 2021. Speaking at the grand opening, JB Head of Marketing, Nick Rheeder, was quick to highlight the company’s ambition. “We plan to roll out nationwide and are excited about our future and our vision, which is consistent with that of the President, which is job creation,” stated Rheeder, adding the new store had created employment for six people, a figure that is expected to double once the store is fully settled. Describing the opening of store 42 as ‘ a great achievement’ for JB, Rheeder explained the organisation strives to empower youth with the jobs created when a new store opens. Meanwhile, Guest Speaker at the event, Gaborone City Council Mayor, His Worship Father Maphongo said establishing a JB store in Main Mall is a welcome development as it gives life to the mall. “Several shops around the mall have closed shop, but we are grateful that despite the challenges Covid-19 brought, JB have seen it fit to open a branch,” declared the appreciative Mayor. Maphongo also advised the crop of new employees to work hard and do their best to have a chance of climbing the JB career ladder and possibly becoming branch managers one day. Next up on the JB rollout are Oodi and Lobatse, with stores in the two villages set to open soon.
