Franco vs Dr Vom in the Real Fight Against
AS cases of Gender Based Violence (GBV) continue to escalate, music heavyweights, Franco and Dr Vom, will swap the mic for the boxing ring as they go head-to-head in ‘The Real Fight Against GBV’.
Set for Friday 24th September to raise GBV awareness, the boxing extravaganza will be divided into four two-minute rounds
Speaking at the initiative’s launch on Monday, Local Music Promoter, Gilbert Seagile, explained they chose Franco and Dr Vom because of their massive fan base.
“There are so many interesting stories that we have either heard or witnessed about these two successful musicians. We have heard that Franco used to assist his bouncers maintain peace and break up quarrels and fights at his events. Dr Vom apparently used to do the same. There are also stories of Dr Vom being a born fighter. We also know that these guys boast a legion of fans and that is bound to shake up the whole country for our message to be heard and spark change,” said Seagile.
“We have partnered with Botswana Television (BTV), Access TV, Parrot News Online and Molapo Piazza just to mention a few to broadcast the match and convey this message to the people,” he added.
Meanwhile, a toughtalking Dr Vom predicted he would hand the Kwasa King a thrashing.
“I am going to knock him out in less than three rounds as I will be motivated by my corporate fans as opposed to his wild fans,” said Dr Vom.
Matching his opponent’s fighting talk, Franco promised his fans an easy victory.
“Dr Vom is no match for me, I feel pity for his fans because I am going to beat him up!” exclaimed the ‘Bo Kgaitsadi’ hitmaker.
For her part, the Minister of Labour, Immigration and Gender Affairs, Anna Mokgethi, applauded the creative industry for joining the fight against GBV.
“This is a great initiative by the creatives and I commend them as GBV is a problem in our country. This show will make a huge impact as we are on course to curb GBV,” said Mokgethi.
