KBL’S CRUCIAL CAMPAIGN

-

THINGS get heated in the kitchen this week as we feature a tasty political clash. To wash it down, we have booze and water while celebrating a heart-warming first birthday.

Further from home, there’s an American pop star to add a little controversy to proceedings.

This past week, Kgalagadi Breweries Limited (KBL) rolled out a campaign advocating for responsible drinking and adherence to Covid-19 protocols.

The advert featured famous personalities like: Charma Gal, William Last KRM and Isaac Makwala.

Be serious KBL,” was one dismissive reaction. “You ignored the ‘Heey Nyena’ guy just like that. Oooooh ok, I can see you guys,” joked another in reference to Theo Lweznik Bome and Samoxa respectively. While someone else asked, “Batswana are always complaining. Is this the unhappy nation?”

I, for one, would agree that ‘Hey Nyena’ would fit the bill for this campaign but not Samoxa. It would be hard to accept advice on responsible drinking from Samoxa!

“How bizarre will we still become? When public officials do their job, they erect plaques to themselves? It’s water, dammit. People need it. Provide it and move along,” noted one rinsing comment. An unimpressed response dryly added, “A whole constitutional mandate reduced to a plaque about so and so barely doing what is expected of them as per job description. Tragedy.”

Pouring more fuel on the fire, it was also pointed out, “The plaque must have cost more than the tank itself.”

Poor Minister Matsheka, all he wanted was to be remembered for his life saving contributions to society.

tle girl.

One emotional reaction read, “I don’t know how to celebrate Azha without my heart breaking.” Another well-wisher stated, “Happy birthday to baby Azha, may God give you strength and guidance to raise her well with love.”
