THE FOREIGN LEGION

-

Ditlhokwe, who blew out candles on his 23rd birthday last Monday, is now in his second year in SSU’S colours and he has since been impressive as he never struggled to break into the first team either in the central defense or left-back, thanks to his versatility.

‘TT’, as he’s affectionately known to his legions of fans, made his fifth successive start for the Pretoria-based outfit when they faced off Maritzburg United this past Saturday.

SSU started the encounter like a house on fire with the inform Thamasaqa Gabuza’s brilliant header taking a lead just before half-time.

However, the substitute, Litha Hlongwane, fired home an equaliser as they piled pressure on Supersport United, forcing Ditlhokwe and co. to defend deep.

Drama erupted in the dying minutes of the match as Maritzburg United almost found a winner but Ditlhokwe was on the right time and prevented that from happening. Then in the 92nd minute, TT headed home a fine cross from Sipho Mbule’s corner kick, ending the match at 2-1 in favour of Supersport United.

Supersport United’s win means that they now move second on the league table just behind Mamelodi Sundowns.

Elsewhere, Tsotso Ngele, who started the first few matches for Chippa United, was not in the match day squad as his side suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands, or rather feet, of Stellenbosch Football Club (FC).

Meanwhile, the sky is the limit for Moroccan-based Kabelo Seakanyeng as he has started firing at Olympique Club de Khouribga, Skhebo as he’s popularly known, has netted two goals in four matches with his side sitting on the 8th spot in the Botola 1 (Moroccan professional league).

Skhebo joined Olympique Club De Khourigba last season as they were still in the Botola 2 (Second Division of Moroccan football league) and made an instant impact scoring eight times and providing 16 assists to help his side attain promotion to the elite league.

However, Skhebo’s counterpart, Orebonye, who joined the Moroccan club at the same time as him was a marvel to watch last season, but he is now reduced to coming on from the bench this season as he is struggling to break into the starting line-up.

Meanwhile, Voice Sport caught up with local football pundit, Kagiso ‘Fox’ Phatsimo, who gave his verdict on each player’s performance.

“TT is doing well, he has been consistent with a few manof-the-match performances to prove his worth at the club. It is not everyday that a defender gets to outshine attackers hence his class is above ordinary. He is going attract attention from bigger teams if he continues to impress,” he said.

Phatsimo further said he was excited for Skhebo as he has settled well at his club. “Skhebo is enjoying himself; he is happy and good things happen when a player feels at home. In a nutshell, he is a complete player who plays his heart out thus playing a pivotal role in his club’s recent successes,” said Phatsimo.
