OH WHAT A NIGHT!
It was an evening of red carpet glitz and glamour as the Botswana Sports Awards debuted at a packed-tocapacity Lekidi Football Centre on Saturday.
Launched as an initiative of Inside BW Women Sports Magazine in collaboration with Women and Sport Botswana (WASBO), and Botswana National Sports Council (BNSC) as well as the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Culture, the awards night attracted stakeholders and sporting personalities who came dressed to kill from diverse backgrounds and sporting codes to celebrate excellence in sports.
The event glimmered with this season’s aesthetics of modern sophistication meets powerhouse! It was a playground of elegance and stellar red carpet glamour! From trendy gowns to impeccable make-up and barely there cut out dresses, these were some of the intricacies of fashion that made the scene.
The awards also paid tribute to men who have and continue to make significant contributions to the growth of women sports in Botswana as well as organisations that have prioritised women’s sports as part of their strategies.
Gender parity in sports is a global concern with unequal recognition of athletes per gender. In the context of Botswana, women in sports continue to demonstrate resilience, excellence and results in all disciplines that include athletes, coaches, administrators and umpires. The awards recognised performance from 1st January 2021 to 31st December 2022.
