IDM REACHES OUT TO PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS

-

IDM Botswana Campus recently participated at the Botswana Human Resource Development Skills Fair and Career Clinics in an effort to take their services to the people. Held in Gaborone at Ditshupo Hall, the career fair brought students, tertiary education providers and other stakeholders under one roof for ease of engagement and networking. The four-day event provided prospective students with opportunities to seek more information on courses and services offered by the institution. Speaking on the sidelines of the event, IDM Marketing and Communications Manager, Chris Moiketsi said they were impressed since they were able to interact with prospective students following three year lull. The career fair and clinics were last held in 2019, and were interrupted by the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, forcing a cancellation of in person meetings between 2020 and 2022. “We are happy to have been part of this year’s fair because it gave applicants a chance to enroll for tertiary education. We are a trusted brand and experts in the field of supply chain management. We have also recently unveiled a new degree programme to the market, the International Business which aims to grow professionals wishing to find a perfect position in the ever-evolving and fast-paced global market. We boast of a fully-fledged public health programme which continues to make a huge contribution in the health sector. Its impact was felt especially during the time of the pandemic. IDM is also a home to archives and records management. We have over the years supported Government to produce graduates in the public service through our flexible and convenient modes of study such as evening and block release,” said Moiketsi. In addition to its service offering, IDM packages all its programmes to include an Entrepreneurship module to build its graduates’ business acumen. “We have infused this module deliberately to prepare them to be employers and employees. We do not only train people to work but encourage them to be employers. We don’t only groom employees but entrepreneurs who will be able to create employment opportunities for others, so that leaves them with a whole lot of options upon graduation,” he added. The recent career fair was a culmination of massive roadshows in Maun and Francistown, aiming to attract learners to the institution. IDM Botswana offers a variety of courses from certificate to master’s level across different fields including procurement, archives and records management, finance, public health, supply chain management and early childhood education. Further, the institution provides an array of short courses, which are administered through its Centre for Continued Professional Development. The Centre aims to up-skill individuals and organizations wanting to grow, develop and retain talent. In addition, Moiketsi said the institution will be embarking on a nationwide tour with other institutions to reach out to more prospective students effective 16th of April 2023, as applications for the July intake continues. IDM Botswana has campuses in Gaborone and Francistown.
