The Voice donates to Bakgatla Tribal Administration
I n accordance with its corporate social investment, The Voice Newspaper has donated some branded shade (gazebo) and two banners to the Bakgatla Tribal Administration.
The branded material comes with identity logos, which were designed following careful consideration of Bakgatla ba-ga-kgafela colours and symbols. The donation comes at a time when it has been difficult for the tribal administration to have proper identification on display, especially during public events and kgotla meetings Speaking at the donation handover on Tuesday in Mochudi, Kgosi Bana Sekai paid homage to the Kasale family, who are the publishers of The Voice. “This is a gesture we will always remember and appreciate. This family (Kasale family) has played an important role in this tribe because, from way back, they used to provide youth with carpentry lessons in the village. They have been of great assistance and have made significant contribution to this tribe for a long time,’’ Sekai said. For his part, The Voice Newspaper Managing Director, Gomolemo Marc Kasale, said the donation is an indication of a strong relationship that The Voice has with Bakgatla. “Our main responsibility is to report news, more especially from the community, such that people can be aware of what is happening around them. So many things are happening but, with us in the picture, people will know and if there is something that needs to be
corrected, those in authority will rectify. This is my home village, so when elders called on me I had to listen and see where I can help. It took time to put all this together but here we are. So this is the beginning of our long lasting relationship with the tribe and we will continue working together,” said Kasale. According to Kgosana Mpho Pone, it was a difficult task to source the branded material because they sent out many requests but it was The Voice Newspaper which answered to their plea first.
“This has been the missing link in our kgotla. All this time, we didn’t have branding that we could use in public events when other departments brought up their branding. Even during kgotla meetings, it was the norm for speakers to stand under the scorching sun but that is in the past now. What The Voice did is big because they have shown us that they are available to help and play a role in the community. So, this will not only benefit one person but the whole of Kgatleng District,” explained Pone.
