To all exhibitors, buyers, trade delegates and members of the media in Brunei to attend the ASEAN Tourism Forum 2020, and every other person reading this magazine, welcome to Brunei!
The ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) was first established back in 1981 and this year will mark the 39th anniversary of this well-known event, which annually brings the ASEAN members together in an effort to promote the Association of Southeast Asian Nations as one tourist destination. Annually, the event brings together the tourism industry sectors of all the 10 ASEAN member states, namely: Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Viet Nam.
This year’s theme (ASEAN: Together Towards a Next Generation of Travel), will focus on shedding the old and embracing the new generation of travellers: a generation of youth with a multi-device mindset accustomed to speedy and personalised service. The fast pace of the modern world where bookings are made with a click of a button influences today’s travel choices, and it is as imperative as ever to maintain and fortify strong relationships with our clients.
This future of modern travelling is a focal point for this year’s ATF, introducing opportunities to further the dialogue at official meetings and at ATF Travex – the world’s largest ASEAN destination, product and service showcase. For a three-day duration, the ATF TRAVEX event, held from 14-16 January 2020, is held as a platform for the promotion, selling and buying of regional or individual tourism products of the
ASEAN member countries. The event is also used as a platform to promote the ASEAN nations as a single destination of multi attractions, and in turn work together to increase the number of arrivals into ASEAN member states while raising awareness on INTRA-ASEAN travel.
