Tamaha Café at Toojou Hotel

-

One of the latest lifestyle attractions in Kota Kinabalu, Toojou (pronounced too-joo) Hotel at Bandaran Berjaya serves up a triple threat of hotel, lifestyle cafe and a co-working place all in one building. Appealing to the crop of young millennials is the Tamaha (which means ‘glutton’ in local Sabahan dialect) Café, a lifestyle café that not only caters to those with discerning taste buds, but especially those who care about aesthetics and ambiance.

Truly, the café - and the rest of Toojou Hotel - is a sight to behold, decorated with neon coloured lights and artistic murals that represent the vibrant Sabahan culture. The café can accommodate 50 to 60 people at a time and with its easy, casual, even hippy bohemian feel, it makes for a great hangout place with friends, or even alone if you need some inspiration to finish writing your book! The place is also available for bookings for exclusive events.

Serving a fusion menu of east meets west, the café prides itself in its classic Carbonara and its signature Nasi Lemak. For something Japaneseinspired, you can opt for the Yakiniku - a dish of grilled beef and steamed rice. Bringing a bit of Hawaii is the Poke Bowl that is served with couscous and crispy salmon skin. For those who are watching their weight, the café also offers a selection of salads and healthy snacks.

Freelancers looking for an inspiring co-working space to get your work done, you can rent a space at the Opis co-working space just above the café for only RM30 (BND10) per day. While no food is allowed at the Opis co-working space, the café is just a fun slide down away! ••
