Traveller Kate – Kate Webster
AUSTRALIA IS OPEN FOR BUSINESS AND READY AND EAGER TO WELCOME YOU, WRITES KATE WEBSTER, WHO, LIKE ALL AUSTRALIANS, HAS SUFFERED SEEING HER HOME DOWN UNDER IN FLAMES.
Australia has suffered these past few months through devasting bushfires and while the world watched in horror, Australians did what we do best. We rolled up our sleeves, banded together and earnt our title as Aussie battlers.
HEARTFELT GRATITUDE
Like many people in Australia and around the world, my heart goes out to the families and communities who are impacted by the bushfires and I have enormous gratitude for the frontline services who faced, and are still facing, the fires head.
While the damage to Australia has been extensive, the display of support from people in Australia and around the world extending the hand of mateship to those affected has been incredibly inspiring. Moreover, there is still so much to enjoy in this land down under that I call home. The best thing travellers can do to support Australia at the moment is to visit the country. Alternatively, if you are planning your next holiday, plan on traveling to Australia.
WILDLIFE CARE
The support from around the country has been overwhelming as we take in injured wildlife and slowly nurse them back to health, we start rebuilding damaged homes and businesses and comfort each other in times of need.
The tourism industry is also in need of some love as this will directly feed into the local communities. Locally, Australians are being urged to holiday at home to support local communities impacted by the recent bushfires.
REBUILD AND RECOVER
Your support is essential too in helping Australia recover. Overseas visitors, please do not cancel your travel plans to Australia, as it is a big country and even though some destinations have been affected by bushfires, there are many that have not and are safe for travel. Consider rescheduling or have flexibility in your plans and travel to alternative destinations that are safe.
The message we are sending is Australia is ready to welcome more travellers. Holiday down under and help Australia rebuild and recover.
