Pattaya has long been known for its vibrant nightlife, but there are sanctuaries where one can enjoy a secluded quiet tropical beachside vacation. Located near the Sanctuary of Truth, one of the city’s more popular tourist attractions, its setting on its own private beach in North Pattaya gives it a feeling far different from most hotels and resorts in the area.
SEA FACING ROOMS
From arrival you will notice the differences. You take the lift up to the lobby on the 4th floor and it is from there that you will go down to one of the 130 air-conditioned rooms. The spacious rooms are bright and well-lit allowing you to enjoy the soft blues of the sheltering sky and gentle sea that contrast with the postmodern industrial design of the quirky dark interior.
Not to worry, everything else is very modern with necessary features such as refrigerators and LED televisions. Cable programming and ipod docking stations are also provided, while complimentary wireless Internet access keeps you connected. Large bathrooms have complimentary toiletries and hair dryers. There is a spacious closet for hanging your clothes, and a safe for storing your valuables. While this is designed as a family holiday resort there is a sturdy desk where you can work – if you must.
LOUNGE LIZARD
However, we haven’t even got to the room’s most attractive feature, the balcony and the views over the Gulf of Thailand. I took to the long divan where I stretched out next to a huge table, made from recovered planks. With chairs this is a great place to sit and snack as you read a book. There is 24-hour room service so you can eat
without even leaving the comfort and privacy of your own room.
You can hear the gentle sea slipping on the soft sand and the laughter of children as they play in the pools or splash about in the sea. Loungers surround the pools where the Ripple Pool Bar offers drinks. A great beachfront spot with sunshine throughout the day, but cooled by the trees, the sea breeze and beach umbrellas.
MORE INDULGENCE
The spa offers massages, body treatments, and facials and is situated amongst the three outdoor swimming pools. Concerned about too much indulgence? There is a fitness center. If you would like to get away from the youngsters for a bit of adult play babysitting/childcare is available.
Getting to nearby attractions is also a breeze with the complimentary area shuttle, or you can walk to the Sanctuary of Truth and local businesses, just a short stroll away. After days of lounging about, you may wish to stretch your legs a bit. The shuttles can take you to Terminal 21, one of Pattaya’s newest malls, and from there you are close to the heart of the city with its shopping, bars, massage parlours and nightlife.
BREAKFAST TO DINNER
You may have days when you don’t want to leave the Resort. Every meal is available at different enticing locations. The extensive buffet breakfast is at Modus Bistro & Modus Pizza. Whatever you prefer for your first meal of the day you are most likely to find it here. The buffet breakfast is available daily from 6:00am to 10:30am.
Breeze Beach, located on the ground floor beachfront, serves Thai Food with original Thai taste (open until 6:00pm). Pizza and pasta are also available. This is a great place to lounge where you can keep an eye on the sea, or on the children – depending on need and priority while enjoying a light meal and drinks. In addition to the poolside bar there are two more lounges on the 4th and 6th floors.
TWILIGHT IS ALWAYS SPECIAL
Twilight restaurant is on the 6th floor (the top) of Building C, with its plush seating borrowed from another era, it serves European and Western food. Enjoy the stunning panoramic ocean views while having dinner between 5:00pm and 11:00 pm.
Planning an event or a wedding while in Pattaya? The Modus has 1367sqft of conference space and meeting rooms. The 6th floor would make the ideal spot for a small wedding or a birthday celebration. A roundtrip airport shuttle is provided for a surcharge (available 24 hours), and free parking is available onsite.
While Pattaya Modus Beachfront Resort is not the most centrally located hotel in Pattaya, its place on its own private beach makes it perfect for those wishing a retreat, while still being in touch with all the city has to offer.
