Warriors see off Crown in AFF Cup warm-up

CAMBODIA’S AFF Suzuki Cup-bound nationa l footba ll team handily beat 2015’s Metfone C-League champions Phnom Penh Crown 3-1 in a warm-up game at the RSN Stadum on Monday evening.

Coach Lee Tae Hoon’s side will play one more local match in the next few days before f ly ing to Singapore for an internatio­nal friendly against the Lions on November 13 a nd t hen travel to Myanmar for t heir Cup clash wit h Malaysia on November 20.

A lt hough t he nat iona l side domi- nated possession and created more chances, it was Crown who snatched the lead in the 12th minute after Sath Rozak’s tidy f inish of f a Sin Kakada pass.

The Warriors hovered around t he Crown goal with a series of attempts, the best of which, a Nub Tola header, was smartly saved by Kun Chanvuthy wit h a f ull-leng t h dive.

But Crown were reduced to 10 men when mi nute s before t he bre a k Aymard was red-carded for a dangerous tack le on Keo Sokpheng.

After the change of ends, Lee Tae Hoon’s men gathered themselves well wit h Chant ha Bin Thierr y levelling t he scores from t he penalt y spot.

Chea Chandara deftly cleared an In Sodav id shot f rom his goa l line, but Khoun Laborav y headed home from t he resulting corner .

The Boeung Ket Angkor striker then missed a couple of chances he would have put away on another day.

But it was lef t to Hoy Phallin to f inish the game, and he did so in st yle wit h a f ierce 20-yard drive.
