Warning over sex supplement
THE Ministry of Health has warned against the use of male sexual supplement Good Man, whose advertisements have circulated on social media, saying it is not a registered product and that legal measures were being considered against the firm attempting to sell it in Cambodia.
A ministry statement said that officials had noticed advertising for the supplements on Facebook and linked it to Winning International Trade Co, which is located in Hong Kong. The product, the statement said, made false claims about its effectiveness and ability to cure health problems.
“The drug for helping the man has not been registered, checked or permitted for import and advertisement by the Ministry of Health,” the statement reads.
The notice warned people against using the product or being cheated of their money by falling for the false advertising.
Chhean Kimseath, who works at the ministry’s department overseeing pharmaceuticals, makeup, food and medical instruments, said that the supplement had yet to be found in local pharmacies, and there was no information on who was selling it in the country.
“Even though we cannot see the product in pharmacies, we are concerned about the product being smuggled into Cambodia,” he said.
However, promotional materials on Facebook come with phone numbers to place orders. A call placed to one of the numbers was answered by a woman who said a bottle cost $75 and that she would order it online to get it delivered into the country. She hung up when asked about the ministry’s directive to not purchase the supplement.
