Camsoc publicity campaign for 2023 Games

- HS Manjunath

A WIDESPREAD publicity campaign to promote the 2023 SEA Games will soon be launched by the Information and Communication sub-panel of the Cambodia SEA Games Organizing Committee (Camsoc).

At its first meeting, chaired by Chea Chanboribo of the Ministry of Information, the panel acknowledged the importance of timely and regular communication in various outlets to keep the population in the country and across the region and the globe fully informed so as to enhance the Games’ appeal and attendance.

The panel drew up an action plan that included the publication of an in-house magazine, as well as extensive Games-related coverage in print through newspapers and on air by radio and television networks.

The ever-increasing popula r it y a nd reach of socia l media also factored in the discussions, and t he pla n proposes to tap these resources for speedy and personalised ways of communication.

Meanwhile, Camsoc’s own digital domain will soon be registered, according to the top administrator at the NOCC Vath Chamroeun, who also endorsed the Information and Communication panel’s plan of action.

“We need a speedy and sustainable digital platform for the SEA Games, which will be followed in all the participating countries and other parts of the world. We are talking about a population of 645 million people in the Asean com- munity, and in this day and age it is our responsibility to provide accurate information as fast as we can,” noted the NOCC secretary-general ,who also serves Camsoc as its CEO and secretary-general.

“A reliable website and the mobile app are the best medium for us to cater to the needs of sports fans and followers apart from initiatives to extensively use the social media,” Chamroeun said.

“We will be hosting the Kingdom’s greatest sports spectacle ever and its success depends on how well it is seen and received, not just within the country but in the region and around the world. We will spare no effort in making this the best ever in history,” he said.

Coverage of the upcoming National Games has been integrated with the NOCC web platform created just before the SEA Games last August, and it has now been modified with several innovative additions such as e-ticketing, live scoring and as-it-happens presentation for several popular events including football.
